* nx2: don't stall presents on a current-frame wait the GPU can't finishSssnowyyy33 hours2-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 0f14696044 made PresentClientBuffer also wait for the current frame's fence whenever the previous frame's wasn't reached. Mario Kart World's GPU waits on semaphores its CPU releases only after the present returns, so in that state the current fence can't be reached until the present returns, and each such present stalled up to the 4 s deadline. Wait for the current frame by default, but give up after a few ms once a GPU channel was seen suspended on a semaphore acquire and wait for the previous frame instead. EDEN_NX2_FRAMES_AHEAD=1 always waits for the previous frame (with 0f14696044's current-frame wait when the GPU is behind), =0 always for the current one. The scheduler gains a lock-free flag so the present thread can see suspended channels. Assisted-by: Claude Sonnet 5.5 (implementation and commit message)
* video_core: stop resuming pending channels once the system is powered offTakoroka5 days1-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | At shutdown is_powered_on is cleared before the GPU thread is stopped. A channel suspended on a semaphore acquire that can resume then went through DispatchCalls, which returns at once when powered off, so the acquire stayed pending and ResumePending counted it as progress forever: the GPU thread never got back to its stop request and closing the game hung in ThreadManager::NotifyShutdown.
* video_core: split the GPU thread in two (EDEN_NX2_SPLIT, off by default)Takoroka5 days2-5/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The GPU thread (front) takes the CPU's commands, parses command lists and runs the puller; engine method calls and everything behind them (registers, draws, dispatches, the rasterizer and its caches) run in order on a second thread (back), fed through a single-producer single-consumer ring (gpu_split.h). Work the front did on back-owned state (end of command list flushes, channel binds, semaphore releases, syncpoint increments, flush/invalidate requests, presentation) is deferred into the same ring; the front waits for the back only where it needs a result from that state: semaphore acquires and MME DMA reads. EDEN_NX2_SPLIT=1 runs macros on the back. EDEN_NX2_SPLIT=2 runs the 3D and compute macros on the front against copies of the registers they read (Maxwell3D/KeplerCompute Front*), drops state writes that keep a register's value there, and sends the rest. EDEN_NX2_SPLIT_VERIFY=1 compares the copies with the back's registers every 4096 macro calls (0 differences in 40,193 checks in title 1); EDEN_NX2_SPLIT_CHECK=1 logs the stack of any other thread using the Vulkan scheduler while the back runs. Switch 2 titles, Vulkan, non-accurate GPU only. Title 1, 3D attract loop: ~44,000 draws a second on one thread, ~47,400 with EDEN_NX2_SPLIT=1, 50,000-66,500 with EDEN_NX2_SPLIT=2.
* Switch 2: per-channel MME data RAM; one QMD table for all channelsTakoroka6 days1-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Macro code stays shared by the channels of a process, but each channel now has its own MME data RAM. Title 1's channels keep their own QMD ring base in data word 0x27; with one shared RAM every channel used the last channel's ring, QMDs collided, releases came early or never and the GPU waited on semaphores (4 s timeouts per frame). The QMD scheduler state is one table for all channels: a QMD's dependency counter is state of the QMD, scheduled and decremented from different channels. Diagnostics: EDEN_NX2_QMD_TRACE (scheduler loads, counts, launches) and EDEN_NX2_MME_DUMP (compute macro code, calls, data word 0x27 changes).
* Switch 2: Turing macros, native compute, Ampere shader lowering, native tilingTakoroka7 days1-0/+23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | From changes.patch: the TU104/GA10x MME interpreter (shared macro context for the process's channels, also on the compute class), native compute with QMD 3.0 dependency scheduling, the Ampere-to-Maxwell shader lowering, native vertex stream sizes, and the console's GOB swizzle for textures, DMA copies and the host unswizzle shaders. Switch 2 channels turn all of it on at init. The lowering is widened for title 4 (all 32 of its programs lower): general TEX (any dimension/LOD/mask, operand split 1+1/2+1/2+2/4+n, any but consistent descriptor buffer), cube/array, SULD channel masks, 128-bit STG, indexed IPA, VOTE, SHFL with any immediate or predicate output, R2P/P2R byte select, uniform ULOP3/ULEA/UBREV/UFLO.SH/UISETP signed/UMOV URZ, IMNMX cbuf, IADD3 and FFMA uniform operands, FMUL /4 /8 x8, and BSSY/BSYNC/BREAK/WARPSYNC as no-ops. The capture stops at unmapped memory. EDEN_NX2_SHADER_DUMP dumps every native program; tools in C:\dev\nx2work test the lowering offline.
* Switch 2: suspend channels on semaphore acquires; fix pushbuffer desyncsTakoroka7 days3-1/+45
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | NVN2 gates command buffers with semaphores the CPU releases after writing them. Eden read past unmet SEMAPHORED acquires, so it executed stale commands and desynchronised. Channels now suspend on an unmet acquire and resume from the same word once it is met (scheduler keeps the waiting channels, the GPU thread polls them), as in changes.patch. Also: methods split across GPFIFO entries around a called command buffer are set aside and resumed; subchannel 2 defaults to inline-to-memory; unbound subchannels and out-of-range compute/DMA methods are dropped instead of crashing; 4-byte semaphore releases no longer write 16 bytes; Ampere SEM_PAYLOAD_HI/SEM_EXECUTE no longer spin as Kepler acquires; unmapped GPU reads log instead of asserting. Debug aids: EDEN_NX2_PB_CHECK (pushbuffer changed after submit), EDEN_NX2_QUERY_TRACE, a one-time pushbuffer dump.
* [video_core/control] Fix SIGBUS due to uninit channel_state (#4406)lizzie2026-09-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some homebrew don't properly initialize the GPU but seemingly try to use it, this is meant to be benign, yet triggers a SIGBUS due to garbage data being on the pointer after ctor(), so the fix is to make it nullptr on construction. * [common] Switch to boost::unordered_flat containers (#4326)crueter2026-08-312-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Replaces all instances of ankerl's unordered map/set with boost's `unordered_flat_*` classes. This uses std::hash since boost::hash is actually a lot slower. Also adds an abstraction layer in `Common` so future changes are quicker and easier. Other implementation details: - ankerl provided hash specializations for tuple and pair, so those were ported here - std::erase_if doesn't work on boost, so just used the ADL'd erase_if This should be about equal or superior performance as unordered_dense for everything except iteration. * [nce, fs] tico support, fix FS bug that would nuke entire 'switch' folder ↵xbzk2026-07-231-0/+21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | (#4086) Contains the minimal set of functionalities to allow tico installer succeed, and tico work normally EXCEPT for game launching (which me or someone else will investigate later) First three commits are from PR 4012. The other six, kinda dizzy to explain each one. All were implemented based on tico source, switchbrew and libnx. Hopefully the commit messages will do.
