ApplyLaunchParams already prints the help or version text, but
SDL_AppInit then fell through to the "No ROM specified" check and
returned SDL_APP_FAILURE, so `eglantine-cli --help` and `--version`
logged a critical error and exited with a failure code. Return
SDL_APP_SUCCESS for those two options before the ROM check.
Tested: Windows and Linux CI builds; on Windows, --help and --version
exit with 0 and running without a ROM still exits with a failure.
AI disclosure: implemented with Claude and reviewed with Codex (AI
coding assistants).

Connect slept for a second while holding packet_mutex, so the host's
SyncNetwork reply could not be handled until Connect had already
returned success in StationOpened. Players could see each other's
group and enter it, but never actually met.
Wait on a condition variable instead, accept the reply only from the
selected host and session, and fail after five seconds. Check packet
sizes and senders, stop duplicate joins from taking another station,
and seed session IDs so separate networks don't share one.
The SDL frontend never called Network::Init, so its multiplayer
option could not join a room. Initialize and shut down networking
around the core.

--pack-nup (#271)
* file_sys: add a NUP packer for loose dumps
Packs a loose dump (exefs/romfs, base/, updates/<version>/ and
dlc/<titleid>/<n>/) into a NUP v1 container with the aligned record
layout. Every package is kept, files are deduplicated by SHA-256 and
compressed with zstd unless that does not shrink them, and files over
256 MiB are stored raw.
Output is byte-identical on every platform: compression is
single-threaded with every frame parameter set explicitly, and zstd is
always bundled so all builds use the same version.
A low-storage mode deletes each source file once its extent is synced
and journaled, and an interrupted run resumes from the journal.
Assisted-by: Claude Opus 5.5 (wrote the packer, its EdenPack-free dump detection, the aligned record layout and the deterministic zstd setup; ran the Raiders and Donkey Kong Bananza packs and boot checks)
* tests: cover the NUP packer
Round-trips a dump through NupContainer, checks standalone updates, a
bare exefs/romfs dump, low-storage resume and overwrite rejection, and
pins the hash of a packed dump so changes to the output are deliberate.
Assisted-by: Claude Opus 5.5 (wrote the tests, including the pinned output hash)
* qt: add Convert to NUP to the game list
Shown for loose dumps. Asks for confirmation with the estimated space,
offers low-storage mode, runs in the background with progress and
cancel, and resumes an interrupted low-storage conversion.
Assisted-by: Claude Opus 5.5 (wrote the Convert to NUP action and its progress and resume handling)
* cli: add --pack-nup <dump> [out.nup]
Assisted-by: Claude Opus 5.5 (wrote the --pack-nup option)

The titlebar timer runs on SDL's timer thread, and on macOS AppKit throws
when a window title is set from there, aborting eden-cli two seconds in.
The timer now only prepares the title; the main loop applies it.

SDL_AppQuit runs on every exit path, including the ones where SDL_AppInit
returned early: no ROM given, --help, or --version. The kernel only exists
once a title is loaded, so Pause() and ShutdownMainProcess() walk into an
uninitialized KernelCore and the process dies with SIGSEGV. The crash lands
before spdlog flushes, which is why --version printed nothing instead of a
version line.
Guard the teardown on System::IsPoweredOn(), and ignore the null appstate
SDL passes when SDL_AppInit never stored one.
Assisted-by: Claude (Anthropic) (diagnosed the crash and wrote the guard)

Loose RomFS folders keep thousands of files open through the VFS
cache. macOS shells default to 256, so title 1 stopped loading at
"Too many open files". Raise it to 8192 like the Qt frontend and like
the Windows path here already does.

EDEN_NX2_GPU_PROFILE=1 times the GPU thread's stages (command parsing,
macros, draw setup by step, compute, texture uploads) and logs each
one's share of every second.
EDEN_NX2_SAMPLE=<thread names> (Windows) pauses the named threads about
600 times a second for EDEN_NX2_SAMPLE_SECONDS, walks their stacks and
writes per-function counts plus folded stacks (EDEN_NX2_SAMPLE_OUT).

MiniDumpWithIndirectlyReferencedMemory left an empty file on Eden's
address space, so print the exception, address and stack as
module+offset before writing a smaller dump, and report a failed write.
A window close or quit request is now logged, to tell it from a crash.

A debugger changes the timing enough to hide some crashes; this catches
them at full speed. dbghelp.dll is loaded only when a dump is written.

- eden-cli: SDL called SDL_AppIterate back to back, keeping a host core at
100% polling input; run the main callbacks at 240 Hz.
- EDEN_NX2_IDLE_SPIN_US: optional spin before an idle core blocks (measured:
no gain on title 1, so off by default).
- EDEN_NX2_SVC_TRACE=<first>:<last>: trace SVCs (with thread ids) for a range
of presents only.
- MME DMA reads flush GPU-written memory first (never triggered on title 1,
kept for correctness); render-enable override histogram instead of the
first-400 log.
Measured on title 1's title screen (RTX 4070 Laptop): GPU ~20% busy, the six
emulated cores ~0.9 host cores in total, Eden's GPU thread 45-70% busy and
largely waiting: on host fences for semaphore acquires (GPU accuracy High
delays every release to host completion), on ASTC upload Finish(), and in a
1 ms poll sleep. gpu_accuracy=Low: ~12.5 -> ~16 fps.

Several debug switches were read with std::getenv on every macro call, QMD,
semaphore write or draw. The UCRT getenv locks and scans the environment,
thousands of times a frame; a long EDEN_NX2_KEY_SCRIPT made title 4 crawl
at 2 fps. Each is now read once. EDEN_NX2_KEY_SCRIPT=@<file> reads the
script from a file. gdbrsp.py gains 'hits' (log registers, frame chain and
object words at breakpoints, following the stopped thread).

EDEN_NX2_KEY_RECORD records keyboard transitions as "f<frame>:code" against a
global count of guest presents; EDEN_NX2_KEY_SCRIPT replays them on the same
frames (or by seconds, as before), so a played session reproduces exactly.
Debug aids: the PC/LR/SP of the first unmapped reads, NSO load addresses,
EDEN_NX2_IPC_SUMMARY (request counts every 5 s), EDEN_NX2_FORCE_LOD0.
Unmapped-access logging is rate limited and the per-draw/semaphore spam is
demoted, so long sessions stay under the log size cap.

|
|

- MME: implement MME_DMA_READ / MME_DMA_READ_FIFOED (Turing macros read query
results into their load FIFO; the conditional-render macro at 0x142 needs it).
- vi2 present waits up to 4 s for the frame fence (was 250 ms) so shader
compile stalls don't let the game lap its equal-value gate semaphores.
- Native QMD: fire the third release slot at word 52, which NVN2 patches for
queue-to-queue syncs (compute queue releasing a gate the 3D queue waits on).
- Compute class SET_REPORT_SEMAPHORE (0x6c0-0x6c3) releases.
- Ampere lowering: AOFFI, any LOP3 truth table, STG RZ, LDG 0x981, IABS,
I2FP rounding, IMAD negated addend, SHFL 0x989 (all 77 title-4 shaders lower).
- Debug: EDEN_NX2_SEM_WATCH=<addr> traces acquires, releases, method
arguments and compute macro emits for one semaphore block;
EDEN_NX2_KEY_SCRIPT scripted key presses; per-submit logs moved to TRACE.
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
- aud:u (nn::audio::CreateUserClientSessionByHipc) command 2 returns Eden's
IAudioRendererManager; the renderer accepts Switch 2's 'REv?' update tag by
comparing revision numbers.
- nx2:gpu sub 211 signals the job slot in request word 17, not word 2; mapping
jobs no longer stall once the SDK rotates slots.
- eden-cli raises the CRT open-file limit (_setmaxstdio(8192)) like the Qt
frontend, so loose RomFS folders don't run out of handles.
- Per-mapping GPU logs moved to Debug.
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
- SDL_AppInit never stored *appstate, so every later callback got null.
- SDL_AppInit/SDL_AppEvent returned SDL_APP_SUCCESS, which tells SDL3 to
quit; they must return SDL_APP_CONTINUE.
- InputSubsystem was a local in SDL_AppInit but the window and its timers
keep a pointer to it; keep it in SdlState, ahead of the window.
- Guard the mouse timer against firing before the mouse driver exists.

- Dynamic shader cache reloading capability for qlaunch
- Multi-process improvements (thanks to @frank1734), instead of just using the main application we now respect caller process (also did it for HID devices while I was at it)
- Layer stack masks & shared buffer screenshot for video core, added different masks (screenshot, recording, etc.) this was discovered as an issue due to how in qlaunch the transition was not right between applications. May not be perfect but also fixes screenshots while using qlaunch
- Reworked overlay display management (input and visibility) - instead of random numbers as I've previously did, I decided to add an AppletZIndex enum for better readability. Also split capability of input by touch and gamepad.
- etc.

is it better than before? well it's certainly more portable now. docs say this improves battery usage on busywaits for event polling.

this was only ever used for announce room json on one single instance
this object is pretty much a danger to society and shouldnt exist, especially since its:
a) a singleton
b) spawns objects out of thin air
c) doesn't respect RAII and can outlive its parent objects (big no no)
generally we shouldnt endorse objects like these in the future, but alas, it existed, now it has to begone
additionally there is a similar object in KWorkerTaskManager but it's not as egregious as this one.
check that this didnt break the usual announce room json logic

Since the launch of the steam controller I think it's only best to push towards updating to SDL3 allowing for a wider range of controller support
I went ahead and started on getting it working. Everything here should be functional, I've personally tested it all on Arch Linux. Still untested on windows, so looking for feedback on that
Any feedback and help would be appreciated!
Main changes:
- Bump everything to SDL3
- Handle SDL3 audio and input
- Add steam controller support, including HD Rumble
- Improved battery reporting via the status icon by using real % rather than state alone

system is created (#3688)
- our logging code was bigger than spdlog itself, why???? just keep it simple
- fix issues when logging before logging system is even started
- removes the "initialized logging twice" issue
- removes uneeded indirection in file logging
- uses direct formatting instead of jumping hoopla-around the fmt::format() ressult
- code duplication and dead code removal as usual
I did explore dup2() but I think it's not worth the hassle
I did try `fwopen()` but it's better if things are just kept as-is.
there is a lot of noise because I removed a bunch of redundant files on logging and just put everything in one file
now normally this wouldn't be a good idea, however consider: the complexity of logging; it's less than 500 lines... does it really need a whole subsystem?!?!?! ITS JUST LOGGING

first of all it makes UI a tad bit more simple and benefits the end user
second, it allows to add new backends a bit more easily
and also, there was a shader backend option in android... we don't use opengl in android
so may as well save ourselves the trouble, aye

Requires qt6-static, obviously... at least for eden. eden-cli also can
be built fully static
Notable challenges n such:
1. VkMemAlloc conflicts with Qt, since it embeds vk_mem_alloc.h in
qrhivulkan; we can get around this by conditionally defining
VMA_IMPLEMENTATION; that is, define it in the SDL2 frontend and undef
it in the Qt frontend. It's not ideal, but I mean... it works, no?
2. find_library, pkgconfig, and some Config modules will always look for
a .dll, so we have to tell CMake to look for .a
3. In spite of this, some will end up using .dll.a (implib) as their
link targets; this is, well, bad, so we create a find_library hook
that rejects dll.a
4. Some libraries have specific configs (boost lol)
5. Some libraries use _static targets (zstd, mbedtls)
6. Some extra libraries need to be linked, i.e. jbig, lzma, etc
7. QuaZip is sad
Needs testing on all platforms, and for both frontends on desktop, to
ensure Vulkan still works as expected.
(also: CI). Resulting executables are:
- 71MB for eden.exe
- 39MB for eden-cli.exe
Considering the entire libicudt is included (thanks Qt), that's a great size all things considered. No need to bundle all those plugins and translation files too.
Theoretically, this lays the groundwork towards fully static executables for other platforms too; though Linux doesn't have a huge benefit since AppImages are needed regardless. eden-room though maybe?
Fixes comp for clangarm64 because -msse4.1
Also allows macOS to build with qt6-static. macOS can't build static executables, but with these changes it ONLY relies on system libraries like libc and frameworks. So in theory we don't even need macdeployqt.

During building eden on FreeBSD, it always assumed that FreeBSD due to being part of the unix family, has gamemode support, too.
Since it doesn't the building process failed.
This commit aims to fix that by separating out Unix and Linux for CMake to ensure there are no conflicts.

Replaces every way of handling config for each frontend with SimpleIni. frontend_common's Config class is at the center where it saves and loads all of the cross-platform settings and provides a set of pure virtual functions for platform specific settings.
As a result of making config handling platform specific, several parts had to be moved to each platform's own config class or to other parts. Default keys were put in platform specific config classes and translatable strings for Qt were moved to shared_translation. Default hotkeys, default_theme, window geometry, and qt metatypes were moved to uisettings. Additionally, to reduce dependence on Qt, QStrings were converted to std::strings where applicable.
